Theatre happens in the present moment, it is something the audience and the artist share, instantaneously and forever.
It is exciting because it will end.
This bond, this contract, between artist and audience, is sacred.
But sometimes we miss the moment.
Sometimes the art is boring.
Sometimes the connection doesn't happen.
Sometimes we don't do our job.
But it is never the fault of the audience.
They did all they were supposed to do. They showed up.
We must meet the audience where they are.
We must fulfil our part of the contract.
WE MUST START A FIRE
